Easy riding & easy hikes & lot’s of fun!
The trip starts and ends at our host hotel in Desenzano, Lake Garda. (Desenzano is on the main rail line between Venice and Milan, and two hours by train from both cities).
Includes: Seven nights accommodation in 3-4 star hotels, seven breakfasts and lunches, bike rental, support vehicle with driver, and your trip host and award winning tour leader Gary Scott. We get many single travelers and they can have their own room w/bathroom at no additional cost. Dinners are on your own or with the rest of the group.
You can choose from road bikes, mountain bikes, city bikes or ebikes (which are fantastic and make the riding easy enough for anyone) – which we will provide for you. You should be comfortable riding in traffic and on gravel bike paths – though we will be riding on side roads and sealed bike paths as much as possible. There is currently a bike path being built to go all the way around the lake.
Gary Scott, who has spent a great deal of time exploring Lake Garda, will be your trip leader and our sag wagon and luggage support vehicle will be driven by Gary’s super fun wife Katarina who will follow the group if anyone needs support, to rest, a change of clothing, or to ride in the van.
Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy and its circumference is 100 miles. You’ll have the opportunity to bike anywhere from 20 to 60 miles each day and be able to join us for an afternoon hike, or have some free time to yourself to walk along the lake, explore where we are staying, swim, relax, shop, drink wine, or whatever…
The trip will start at 9AM at our host hotel in Desenzano and finish after lunch back in Desenzano on the southern shore of Lake Garda midway between Milan and Venice.
You will have time to stop and see all that Lake Garda has to offer and some lakeside villages and places we will be staying overnight include fascinating and unique places such as the Gardone Riviera area, Limone, Riva, Torbole, Malcesine, Bardolino, Sirmione and Desenzano.
There are many fun and interesting things you can do on this beautiful lake including boat trips, visiting castles and historical sites including Roman ruins, taking a cable car up Monte Baldo for a hike and great views, and visiting romantic Verona – the home of Romeo and Juliet. And – along the way you will be able to enjoy incredible Italian food and wines from the region and a great holiday vibe.
